Wine lovers rejoice.

The inaugural Ridgefield Wine Week started Sunday, Sept. 16, and will run through  Sunday, Sept. 23.

The seven-day wine experience aims to promote the consumption of wine in local businesses, with restaurants and liquor stores offering wine dinners, wine hours and special tastings.

Participating restaurants include Bernard’s, Sarah’s Wine Bar, Gallo Ristorante, Bailey’s Backyard, Terrasole and Luna Rossa.

Liquor stores hosting tastings include Ancona’s Wines and Liquors (the event’s presenting sponsor), Cellar XV Wine Market, 109 Cheese and Wine, Village Wine and Spirits, and Cheers Ridgefield.

“I’m incredibly excited to debut Ridgefield Wine Week” said Paula Alonso, co-founder of Ridgefield based Wine Revolution co-founder . “I believe every bottle of wine is a tiny time capsule of a distinct place, its unique culture and unapologetic history. We will be uncorking hundreds of wines in more than 30 wine events offered throughout the week and these bottled stories will transfer to our guests, who will travel to far lands and dream of sweet harvests without ever leaving town.”

Ridgefield Wine Week will culminate on Sunday, Sept. 23 with Sunset Wine Party, a festive event taking place from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Lounsbury House. All net proceeds will benefit Ridgefield Playhouse and Ridgefield Independent Film Festival.
