Fill-A-Public Works Truck to benefit Ridgefield Food Pantry
Ridgefield’s Highway Department is joining hundreds of public works departments across New England in collecting food and household goods to support their local food pantry needs.
The town’s annual Fill-A-Public Works Truck food drive will take place during National Public Works Week (May 20-26), and will support the Ridgefield Food Pantry.
Interested residents are asked to bring goods to the Highway Department, located at 60 South Street, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, May 23.
Possible donated items include: oatmeal, milk (shelf stable), coffee, tea, jelly (all flavors), peanut butter, hearty soups, canned stew, cookies, fruit snack packs, applesauce, brownie mixes, cake mixes, frosting, jello/pudding, ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise, or cooking oil (olive/vegetable). most popular items: cereal, crackers, canned fruit, tuna, tomato sauce, snacks (pretzels/nuts/raisins), pasta and rice mixes, canned beans, canned meats (chicken/ham/spam).
The pantry also accepts personal care and household items: soap and body wash, shampoo and conditioner, toothpaste, deodorant, toilet paper, paper towels, laundry detergent, and dish soap. Residents are asked to remember to keep these particular items separate from groceries when dropping them off.
