End Polio Now concert raises $225,000
A sold-out Playhouse crowd was dancing in the aisles at the Rotary Club of Ridgefield’s Tommy James End Polio Now concert. The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation is supporting this Rotary initiative by matching two for one the net proceeds from this event.
The Ridgefield community came together to support this important event, fundraising $225,000 through ticket sales, sponsorships and a silent auction.
Polio will be only the second disease to be eradicated in the history of the world. Over 500 people packed the auditorium. Some Things Fishy Catering, Ridgefield Liquor Shop and Deborah Ann’s Sweet Shoppe supplied an excellent Sponsors’ Preconcert Event. Bailey’s Backyard prepared a gourmet meal for Tommy James and the Shondells, Alive N Kickin and the crew. Flowers by Rodier, Southwest Café, The Walker Library and an autographed Tommy James Guitar were outstanding auction items.
The following Organizations and families were sponsors of the event: RVNA, Fairfield County Bank, Jesse Lee Memorial United Methodist Church, Dewey & Paul McNamara, Eileen & Jay Walker, Anita & Nick Donofrio, Liz & Rob Ellis, Sally & Rudy Ruggles, Joanne & John Patrick, The Rotary Club of Westport, Allison & Jon Stockel, Liz & Steven Goldstone, Sturges Brothers, Elaine & Kevin Cox, Justamare Pony Farm, Worldwide Diagnostics, Ridgefield Supply Company, Bernadette & Wayne Addessi and The Taylor Zemo Foundation. Additional contributions were received from: The Rotary Club of Bridgeport, Theresa & Dean Miller and Ballantine Communications. And a special thanks to the Joblin Family, Brad, Barbara & Blake, who coordinated the entire event.
