East Ridge students win awards in national French contest

Several eighth-grade French students of Mme Hanson from East Ridge Middle School earned national recognition for excellent performance on the 2019 National French Exam (Le Grand Concours).
There were two gold medal winners —Ines Taleb and Pablo Rubio Lucia, and four silver medal winners (Emma Levine, Skylar Kleinman, Ivan Gupta and Michele Kim). In addition, there two two bronze medals — Ethan Walls and Anders Hoemann, and five honorable mentions (Stephanie Iwinski, Annabel Earle-Hecht, Keel McQuilkin, Andrew Volgende, and Charlotte Ward).
Le Grand Concours is a national competition sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of French. Students were evaluated by their written, oral and listening comprehension skills in French. Nearly 100,000 students in all 50 states competed in the 2019 event.
