Chamber to honor Kinsman at annual Women’s Forum

The Ridgefield Chamber of Commerce has selected Christy Kinsman as its 2018 Woman of the Year.

She will be honored at the 13th annual Women’s Forum at Salem Golf Club Friday, May 4, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Kinsman owns the The Angel Cooperative with her partner, Laura Freed Ancona. It is the third successful business she has operated in Ridgefield. She previously owned The Little House Shoppe in Copps Hill Plaza.

“Each item that is carefully chosen for the store is designed to bring joy, peace and harmony to our clients,” said Kinsman of The Angel Cooperative. “They are all purchased with intention.”

The store is home to the only shungite room in North America.

“The shungite room is a grounding space and serves our clients for healing and enlightenment.” Kinsman continued, “We have carefully selected each practitioner to ensure visitors are receiving the most authentic and beneficial experience when they are with us.”

The vision and execution behind Kinsman’s most recent retail success is one of the criteria the committee looks at when voting on a Woman of the Year.

More importantly though, is the connection to the community they serve. Kinsman has been a long-time Chamber member serving as Chairwoman of the Board in 2016 and is a strong advocate for the retail sector of membership spearheading several “shop local” campaigns.

“At a very early age the importance of community and advocacy was instilled in me by my parents,” said Kinsman, who has been a longtime Chamber member, serving as chairwoman of its board in 2016. “My father was a lifelong Rotarian who believed in serving others, and the Chamber is an organization dedicated to serving the business community, which is a perfect synergy for me.”

In addition to her own business ventures, Kinsman serves as president of the board of her daughter Campbell’s non-profit organization, BearHug, whose mission is to thank military children for their sacrifice to our country. Kinsman has volunteered her time with Ann’s Place for the annual fashion show, participated in the RVNA Spelling Bee, and serves on the Ridgefield Playhouse gala committee.

The theme of this year’s Women’s Forum is “Lift as You Climb.” The event will feature a keynote address by leadership consultant and author Sally Helgesen, whose newest book, How Women Rise, will be released in April.
