Bissell Pharmacy, the Ridgefield Prevention Council, and the Ridgefield Police Department announced they will be holding a prescription drug take-back event from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday, April 28.

Residents may drop off any unwanted prescription or over-the-counter medications at Bissell Pharmacy, located at 23 Governor Street

The take-back event is free and completely anonymous. Those who attend may drop off the medication without getting out of their cars.

“Prescription drugs that languish in medicine cabinets create a public health and safety concern because they are highly susceptible to diversion, misuse and abuse,” the police said in a press release.

Everything collected at the event will be taken to an incineration facility by the police.

Can’t make it to the April 28 event? The department reminded residents that police headquarters at 76 East Ridge Road also has a take-back box in the front lobby available 24/7, every day of the year. Medication drop-offs at the police department may also be done anonymously.
