Alternating one-way traffic planned on Route 35 Monday through Wednesday

Editor's note: This story has been updated to reflect that the state's contractor will be on site Monday, Tuesday, AND Wednesday of this week.

Route 35 bridge work resumed earlier this month, and with it came the expectation that eventually longs lines of cars would return to the site near the Fox Hill condominiums.

That day — or days — of reckoning is here.

Ridgefield was notified of traffic plans for Monday, March 26, through Wednesday, March 28, that include one-way alternating traffic stops on Danbury Road from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Baier has notified me that  they plan on alternating traffic next week Monday March 26th and Tuesday March 27th  and the rest of the week there will be only minor impacts to traffic," said Ryan Wodjenski of the state Department of Transportation (DOT) in a letter to First Selectmen Rudy Marconi.

On Monday, Wodjenski told The Press the two-day period of alternating traffic will actually be three days, with delays extending into Wednesday.

It will be the first periods of alternating one-way traffic at the site since early December.

All plans for traffic next week are based on good weather, Wodjenski said.

The state hopes the project will be completed by May.
