The Board of Education voted unanimously Dec. 11 to approve a list of seven capital improvement items for the 2018-19 school year.
The capital projects, which include revamping the district’s computer network and other school security upgrades, would cost $1.5 million.
Replacing the running track at Tiger Hollow — the most expensive item, estimated to cost around $500,000 — was heavily debated.
“I’m really uncomfortable with the track being here,” said Vice Chairman Doug Silver. “This is not what we do. … I feel like the town needs to own their responsibility on this.”
“One way or another, the taxpayers pay,” said Chairwoman Fran Walton. “It’s just a question of whether it goes through us.”
