The Rotary of Ridgefield has named Ridgefield High School Senior Ian Davies Welch as its
2018 Scholarship winner in recognition of his very strong academic, extracurricular and
community service activities over the last 4 years. Ian embodies Rotary’s motto of “Service
Above Self”.
He is a member of National Honor Society, consistently achieved High Honors and received
several academic awards. In addition to the academics he co-founded RHS Astronomy Club,
a Founding member of RHS Robotics Club and rowed for the varsity since his freshman year.
His community activities included Keystone Club of Ridgefield, Open Space Trail
Winterization and Wildlife Conservation and assisted in the Red Cross Blood Drives.
Ian will be presented the Scholarship Award at the June 20 Ridgefield Rotary Meeting. Ian will
be attending University of Connecticut Storrs next year.
