Power outages in the north end of Ridgefield have caused four of Ridgefield's nine public schools to dismiss early Monday, Feb. 25.
Ridgefield High School, which reported a power outage shortly after 10 a.m. Monday, dismissed at 11 a.m.
Scotts Ridge Middle School is dismissing at 11:35 a.m.
Two elementary schools — Scotland and Barlow Mountain — are also dismissing early at 12:10 and 12:20, respectively.
Ridgebury Elementary is on regular dismissal schedule.
"Due to high winds, Eversource can not provide and estimated time to restore power to the 1,200 homes, businesses and schools affected," said Dick Aarons, the town's emergency management director.
Aarons said that some schools do not have telephone service, but residents can send an email to the school.
"Radios are in place for emergencies," Aarons added.
"There may be some delays in the bus routes today due to road closures or obstructions," he said. "Your patience is appreciated."
