RIDGEFIELD — Two new COVID cases — including one person who was “potentially infectious” each day this week at East Ridge Middle School — were reported on Friday, district officials said.

Some East Ridge students and staff were sent home early Friday as a result of the case, according to Aaron Crook, the district’s COVID-19 liaison.

Contact tracing for this case was listed as “in progress” late Friday afternoon on the district’s COVID-19 data tracker.

The other case is of a member of the Ridgefield High School community who was not believed to have been in that building when infectious, Crook said.

The district has now had 64 COVID cases this school year.

The Ridgefield schools had 150 students and 31 staff members out as a result of quarantines Friday afternoon, according to the COVID-19 data tracker on the district’s website.
