WATERBURY — A hit-and-run driver allegedly struck two pedestrians on Meriden Road late Tuesday night, leaving one with fatal injuries, police said.

Officers responded to the 900 block of Meriden Road around 11 p.m. for a report of a hit-and-run involving two pedestrians, Sgt. Nadine Amatruda said.

The investigation showed that the pedestrians were on the shoulder of the road when they were hit by a gold or tan Honda CRV, Amatruda said. The vehicle fled in an unknown direction.

In an update Wednesday evening, police released a surveillance photo of the vehicle believed to have been involved in the accident, described as a tan or gold Honda CRV.

Amatruda said the case is still under investigation and asked anyone with information to contact investigators.

One pedestrian suffered minor injuries, while the other was seriously wounded, Amatruda said. They were both taken to area hospitals.

The pedestrian who was seriously wounded was pronounced dead at the hospital, Amatruda said. The victim was later identified as 49-year-old Shane Dube, of Wolcott.

Anyone with information is asked to call 203-346-3975.
