Monsignor Laurence Bronkiewicz, who is set to retire from St. Mary Parish on July 31, welcomed his replacement to Ridgefield at masses this past weekend. Rev. Frank J. Caggiano, Bishop of Bridgeport, named Msgr. Kevin Royal as pastor of St. Mary Parish earlier in the week. Royal, who has been pastor at Holy Spirit Parish in Stamford for the past six years, will be 13th pastor of St. Mary Parish. He was ordained in 1985. "I am very pleased to announce that Most Rev. Frank J. Caggiano, bishop of Bridgeport, has appointed Msgr. Kevin T. Royal Pastor of Saint Mary Parish, Ridgefield, effective July 31,"Bronkiewicz wrote on the church's Facebook page. The new monsignor brings with him plenty of leadership experience in the diocese. He currently serves as Dean of the Stamford Deanery, and his previous assignments have included service as Diocesan Vicar for Clergy and Religious from 2006 to 2014. Prior to 2006, Msgr. Royal served as Rector of Saint John Fisher for 10 years. Read more about Msgr. Kevin Royal in this Thursday's Ridgefield Press.
