For four weeks from mid-May through mid-June, Ridgefield High School seniors Isabella DeMassa and Ally Rosenbaum will perform their senior internships at RVNAhealth. Both will be studying health-related fields in college, and both selected RVNAhealth for the hands-on experience.

DeMassa is working with the ComfortWELL Hospice team reporting to volunteer coordinator Stephanie Notaro. DeMassa has been interested in the medical field since she was young and plans to study nursing at Moravian College in Bethlehem, Pa., this fall.

During her stint in hospice, DeMassa will focus on the administrative end of hospice care — preparing trunk kits and nursing bags for nurses, pulling hospice supplies for patients and making “tuck-in calls” to hospice patients and family members in addition to many other projects. Because interns can’t live on office time alone, DeMassa will also shadow Ridgefield resident Lauren Messina to get an inside look at the life of a hospice nurse.

When not interning, DeMassa loves to run and hurdle as a member of the high school’s track and field team.

Rosenbaum has always had a passion for health sciences and plans to major in biology when she begins her collegiate studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison this fall. Though Rosenbaum is extremely interested in the clinical side of RVNAhealth, she is using her internship as an opportunity to understand the administrative workings of a health care organization as they pertain to communications, fundraising and event planning.

Rosenbaum is interning under the guidance of RVNAhealth Development Manager Julia Douglas, and will work on development communications, market research and analysis, writing and photography. Rosenbaum’s prior work experience at Ridgefield Parks & Recreation and Caraluzzi’s Market will come in handy as she helps juggle daily tasks.
