REDDING — Police are investigating what they called an untimely death at a Redding hotel.

Redding police chief Mark O'Donnell said in a statement that a 56-year-old woman was found dead in a room at the Days Inn on U.S. Route 7.

O'Donnell said officers from the town police department and the Western District Major Crime Unit are investigating. He included no other details in the statement but said later that there is no danger to the public.

The hotel remains open.
