Police: 2 arrested after altercation leads to gunshots in Meriden

MERIDEN — Two Meriden men were arrested this week after an altercation led to gunfire, according to police.

The incident happened Tuesday outside the One Twelve Lounge at 278 W. Main St., police said. There were no injuries.

The two men were arrested on Wednesday.

Richard Ortiz, 44, of Hobart Street, was charged with criminal possession of a firearm and unlawful discharge of a firearm. He was released after posting a $150,000 bond.

Anthony Terrence Pooser, 36, of Colony Street, was charged with tampering or fabricating physical evidence and interfering with an officer. He was released after posting a $10,000 bond.

“We would like to inform the public that the Meriden Police Department take any act of violent crime very seriously,” Lt. John Mennone said. “As always, we ask the members of the public for your assistance in any case you may have knowledge of to help prevent, deter, and/or solve them.”
