Klemm Real Estate, which has offices through the Litchfield Hills, has listed the long-time country home of famed author Philip Roth in Warren.

The property consists of 147-plus acres and is a mix of pastures and woods peppered with antique stone walls.

The centerpiece of the property is a c 1790 antique home with three bedrooms, three fireplaces and many original antique features.

In addition, there is a barn and pool, as well as Roth’s writing cottage with wood stove.

“This is a rare offering,” said Peter Klemm, broker of the firm and listing agent of the property.

“Not only was this the residence of one of the great authors of our time, but this is a magical property in a serene and utterly private setting with a wonderful antique home commanding over so much acreage,” he said.

Roth, who died in 2018, was the noted author of more than 20 novels as well as numerous short stories.

He earned a master’s degree from the University of Chicago and was also awarded honorary degrees from such universities as Harvard, Brown and Columbia.

Eight of Roth’s books, including “Goodbye, Columbus” and “The Human Stain,” were adapted as films.

He won the Pulitzer Prize for his 1997 novel “American Pastoral.”
