When the first expanded federal child tax credit payments went out to Connecticut families in July,Rep. Rosa DeLauro, who championed the proposal, celebrated and renewed her longstanding call for the benefit to become permanent.
Now, with an expanded tax credit for low- and middle-income parents a distant longshot, the New Haven Democrat is contemplating how many people could fall into poverty when and if the larger credit goes away.
