BRIDGEPORT — One person suffered a non-life-threatening leg wound in a shooting at Trumbull Gardens late Monday night, officials confirmed Tuesday.

Preliminary information indicated there was gunfire and one person likely wounded by a bullet, according to police.

Police officers were dispatched on a ShotSpotter activation for gunshots in the area of Sunshine Circle, not far from Trumbull Avenue, shortly after 11 p.m.

The city’s 911 dispatch center received multiple calls from citizens who reported hearing shots fired, according to Scott Appleby, the city’s director of emergency communications and emergency management.

One caller told police that a bullet went into her wall in Building 10 of Trumbull Gardens, Appleby said.

While officers were on scene investigating, personnel at St. Vincent’s Medical Center alerted police that an individual had been dropped off by a private vehicle with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the leg.

The investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information is asked to call 203-576-TIPS.
