Pedestrian seriously injured following crash in Danbury
DANBURY — Police are investigating a Friday evening crash on Padanaram Road that left a pedestrian with serious injuries.
A call came in around 5:30 p.m. about a motor vehicle accident involving a pedestrian near the North Street Shopping Center.
The pedestrian “stuck under the vehicle,” according to dispatch reports.
A Danbury resident recalled seeing emergency vehicles at the intersection of Padanaram Road and Hayestown Avenue when she drove through the area that evening.
Firefighters and EMS quickly responded to the scene and remained there until at least 6 p.m. Additional firefighters were requested at that time to provide lighting, according to dispatch reports.
It is unclear how long it took to extricate the pedestrian from under the vehicle, but firefighters from Squad 7 reported clearing the scene and returning to station around 6:45 p.m.
A woman close to the victim said Monday that he is “in very bad shape.”
Three months ago, a woman died after being hit by a truck on Federal Road Dona Kramer, 71, of Ohio, was crossing near Frank Pepe Pizzeria Napoletana at 59 Federal Road around 8 p.m. Oct. 4, when a 2001 Chevy Silverado struck her. Kramer was transported to Danbury Hospital, where she later died, police said.
