DANBURY — A local nonprofit is now giving out meals to students through the first couple weekends in June, with plans to expand to seniors and adults with special needs.

The New American Dream Foundation will distribute meals from 10 to 11:30 a.m. on Saturdays through June 13 at Morris Street, Park Avenue and South Street schools, as well as the Early Childhood Center.

This Saturday, lunch and dinner will also be given to seniors and adults with special needs at Kimberly Place. The organization delivered meals left over from its other distributions to those tenants last Saturday and saw the great need there, said Emanuela Palmares, vice president of the foundation.

After June 13, the foundation plans to focus on providing meals for seniors and adults with special needs living in Section 8 and tax credit communities in Danbury, she said.

The foundation’s food distribution started with 300 meals given to Morris Street School students in April and has since expanded thanks to various additional donations. To donate, visit the organization’s website.
