On Thursday, May 17, New Canaan CARES will be celebrating the 26th annual Kitchen & Home Tour, as generous homeowners open their doors for this Fairfield County tradition. On display will be seven exquisitely designed, extensively remodeled, and newly constructed homes. Patron ticket holders will have the opportunity to attend a patron party and gain early access to one of the tour homes. Ticket guidebooks ($150 for patron level and $80 for standard) may be reserved online at newcanaancares.org or purchased from local outlets, including Exclusive Real Estate Sponsor William Raveis Real Estate and RAND Insurance. The guidebook includes a tour map and detailed overview of each home. The tour has sold out each of the past five years. A limited quantity of gourmet box lunches may be reserved online for $20 before May 16 and picked up on tour day. All proceeds from the 2018 tour support CARES programs.
Classic meets contemporary
Situated high on a hill, with sweeping vistas of the surrounding treetops, this elegant estate is one of New Canaan’s oldest properties. Originally built in 1933, the owners hoped to preserve the home’s history while at the same time adapting the interiors to their modern-day lifestyle. Following an extensive renovation by Grand Sponsor Yankee Custom Builders, with architectural designs by Brooks & Falotico and interiors by Kerry Hanson Design, this elegant Dutch colonial is now the perfect combination of old world sophistication and 21st-Century amenities.
A breath of fresh air
Warm, open and inviting, this Neil Hauck-designed home is a stunning combination of beautiful architectural and interior design. Using a combination of Scandinavian-inspired simplicity with both modern and traditional elements, interior designer Michelle Morgan Harrison has created an organic, edited, and not overly formal interior in keeping with the family’s lifestyle. Soaring ceilings, picture windows, and a stunning oversized gallery set the tone for the rest of the house, whose rooms are bathed in light, with each room intentionally bringing the outdoors into this functional, forever family home.
Modern farmhouse
A fresh, open floor plan designed for year-round entertaining from the inside to the expansive covered porch and pool outside, this bespoke family home perfectly meets the needs of this creative and busy family. Completed in just 10 months by Hoffman Contracting LLC, with kitchen design by The Kitchen Company, this loft-like calming space reflects the owner’s vision of the perfect modern farmhouse.
Timeless treasure
The grand entryway, with sweeping staircase, custom millwork, and white oak flooring, sets the tone for the entire home and affords all who enter an unobstructed view to the back of the house as well as to the rooms on either side. With design expertise from Brooks & Falotico, construction excellence from Hobbs Inc., and superior electrical work by Camsan Electrical, these homeowners now have a timeless treasure that combines European flair with casual elegance in a much-loved neighborhood.
The future of new construction
Situated on one of New Canaan’s most beautiful streets, this gracious Colonial-style home was designed and built by Connecticut-based builder Fore Group, with an eye toward creating a character-filled house that would combine tradition with cutting-edge design. With Pinterest-worthy interiors by Hogue Interior Design, this home is the best of tradition, livability, style, and design for the future.
Coastal cachet
Traditional Connecticut meets California coastal in this recently built home on one of New Canaan’s most sought-after thoroughfares. Designed and built by Country Club Homes and decorated by Cobble Court Interiors, this shingle-style gem blends seamlessly with the more traditional homes in the neighborhood, but just inside lies a beach-inspired oasis that reflects this young family’s love of the Southern California lifestyle.
Georgian surprise
Stepping inside this classic Georgian colonial home is a modern dream, enhanced with front-to-back views of the extensive gardens designed by Doyle Herman Design Associates. Inspired by the palette of native plants outdoors, Pimlico used natural, organic materials to create a refreshingly unpredictable interior with a mixture of modern and traditional elements. The European-inspired kitchen by DEANE Inc., along with statement art pieces curated by ARC Fine Art, this home is a must-see combination of chic and inviting features.
