'Hot Stove League' returns to Ridgefield Library in January
Award-winning New York Mets play-by-play announcer Gary Cohen returns to the Ridgefield Library Saturday, Jan. 26, for the 2019 installment of the Hot Stove League.
Cohen will entertain questions from the audience, share anecdotes from his 30 years broadcasting the Mets and provide his take on the upcoming Major League Baseball season. He was recently inducted to the New York State Baseball Hall of Fame alongside his broadcasting partner and former Mets player Keith Hernandez. The Hot Stove League event sold out quickly when Gary last appeared at the Library during the 2017 off-season.
In conjunction with the Hot Stove event, Library patrons and Mets fans have opportunities to bid on exclusive game packages and game memorabilia:
- An auction of four field-level tickets to a June 2019 Mets game at Citi Field, including four on-field passes to watch batting practice and a rare visit to the Ralph Kiner Broadcast Booth at the stadium. Bids can be made in person at the Library through January 26. The winning bid will be announced at the end of the Hot Stove program. Attendance is not required. - An auction of four (4) seats in the Citi Pavilion (section 143) for the Saturday, April 27, game between the Mets and the Milwaukee Brewers, including four on-field passes to watch batting practice and complimentary beer, soda and snacks. Bids can be made in person at the Library through January 26. The winning bid will be announced at the end of the Hot Stove program. Attendance is not required. (Package is courtesy of Citibank.)
- Raffle drawings for New York Mets memorabilia, including an official MLB baseball signed by SNY’s broadcasting team of Gary Cohen, Keith Hernandez and Ron Darling (courtesy of SNY), and official MLB baseballs signed by current and former Mets heroes, including Mookie Wilson, John Franco, Amed Rosario and Steven Matz (courtesy of the New York Mets). Raffle ticket packages will begin at $5 and will be available on January 26th at the Library. Winners will be announced at the end of the Hot Stove program.
