Fall lantern walk welcomes end of daylight saving time
This weekend it's time to fall back.
As residents wind back the clocks one hour before Sunday, Nov. 4, in preparation of daylight saving time, Ridgefield's Tinkergarten will celebrate the special occasion with its annual fall lantern walk.
The event is free and will be held at Tarrywile Park in Danbury from 5:15 to 6:30 p.m. It will be open to all members of the community. Registration is required.
"It is designed to help kids, big and small, welcome the end of daylight saving time," said organizer and teacher Dawn Jolly.
Families gather before dusk, sing songs, light lanterns and enjoy an outdoor walk in the park.
"It's an incredible opportunity to stop and be mindful of the cycles of nature," Jolly said. "At the very least, it's a chance to be out in the wild at night!"
