Shailyn Pinkney, East Hartford: In a 67-38 win over No. 3 Middletown in the Class LL semifinals, the Seton Hall-bound senior guard Pinkney scored 29 points. Then, Pinkney put on one of the great state finals performances with 26 points on 8 of 10 shooting and making 4 of 6 from the beyond the 3-point line as the Hornets won their first state championship over Wilton.
Aizhanique Mayo, Notre Dame-Fairfield: Mayo took over the Class L championship game, scoring 12 of her 22 points in the third quarter, adding 8 rebounds and leading Note Dame to the Class L title over Newington.
Rosa Rizzitelli, Sacred Heart Academy: Rizzitelli finished with a double-double with 19 points and 15 rebounds as the Sharks won the Class MM title over St. Joseph.
Mya Zaccagnini, Holy Cross: Zaccagnini scored 21 points in a semifinal win over Valley Regional 57-50 and the junior followed that up with 20 points in the Class M championship game win against Bacon Academy. Zaccagnini’s final shot of the state final was her 1,000th career point.
Emma Sanson, Thomaston: The senior led Thomaston with 17 points in its 42-38 victory against Coventry in the Class S title game.
Izzy Casucci, St. Joseph: Casucci scored a career-high 29 points off the bench in the Cadets 68-54 victory over Hand in the Class MM semifinals.
Nicole Decker, Thomaston: The sophomore scored 18 points, leading the Bears to a 48-42 win in the Class S semifinals over Bolton.
Lilly Ferguson, Newington: Ferguson led the Nor’easters to the Class L final with 16 points in the semifinals against EO Smith.
Valerie Luizzi, Bacon Academy: The senior scored 14 points to lead the Bobcats past East Hampton 30-26 in the Class M semifinals.
Leah Martins, Wilton: Martins scored 20 points, including six 3-pointers (half of which came in the final quarter) as the No. 12 seeded Warriors upset No. 1 Enfield in the Class LL semifinals.
Amy Prior, Coventry: The senior scored 13 points helping the Patriots advance to the Class S championship.
