The the 2019 Ridgefield Independent Film Festival (RIFF) will be held Oct. 10 through 14. “We’ve gotten a few hundred submissions,” said Geoffrey Morris of the Economic and Community Development Commission. “We want to release the film names earlier this year, because last year it was like August and we didn’t have enough time to market them properly — we want to start getting them out... in July.” Morris said so far there are no major celebrity names featured in the list of film-makers. The state’s Office of Film, TV, and Digital Media has shown interest in the event. “They were very supportive last year, they’re probably going to give some more money this year [and] they’re really engaged with our festival director.” The festival will include events at the Playhouse, Keeler Tavern, the Library, the Theater Barn, and “possibly the Lounsbury house,” Morris added.
