“Newtown cannot afford two more years of the status quo,” says Democratic 106th House District candidate Rebekah Harriman-Stites.

The single mom, school board member and social worker is challenging Republican incumbent state Rep. Mitch Bolinsky for the opportunity to represent Newtown in the state House of Representatives.

Harriman-Stites said she isn’t afraid to stand up to challenges and will make sure all Newtown residents’ voices are heard in Hartford.

“I have the experience necessary to stabilize and reinvigorate our economy (and) ensure that all our children and grandchildren have the ability to live, work and raise their families here in Connecticut,” she said.

If elected, Harriman-Stites said her top legislative priorities would include following science to prepare Newtown for the ongoing impact of the pandemic, ensuring access to quality health care and “addressing the critical need for energy reform and holding Eversource accountable.”

“There is a lot to tackle,” she said. “I know that together we can recover from any challenge the next chapter brings.”
