Cristina O’Toole Oudekerk, 39, RHS graduate

Cristina O’Toole Oudekerk, a member of Ridgefield High School’s class of 1991, died unexpectedly while traveling overseas on business on May 27. She was 39, and lived in Katy, Texas.
 
Born Dec. 19, 1972, in Norwalk, to Dr. James and Patricia Boyle O’Toole, she was raised in Ridgefield, living with her family off West Lane near the fountain.
At Ridgefield High School she served as president of the Student Council, and spent a year in Belgium with AFS.
She went to the University of Connecticut, and enjoyed a semester in France at the Sorbonne. After graduating from UConn with a degree in international business, she spent several years working for Reuters in Stamford.
She fell in love with Mark Oudekerk in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., where her family had moved, and they were married on Sept. 25, 2005.
They lived in Parker, Colo., for six years and she worked for McGraw-Hill.
She and her family moved to Katy, Texas, where she was working for Platts, a division of McGraw-Hill, at the time of her death.
“Crissy lived her life with a passionate dedication to the teachings of Jesus Christ,” her family said.
She served as the high school girls coordinator for Southeast Christian Church in Parker, Colo.
She spoke fluent French and in her free time enjoyed spending time in the sun with her family.
Besides her parents and husband, she is survived by her children Ella, Max and Lily; her siblings, Jim, Katie, Molly and Ted; her sister-in- law, Kera Rexroad, and her mother and father-in-law, Nancy and Bruce Oudekerk; as well as nieces and nephews, aunts, cousins, and many friends.
“Crissy touched countless people with her deep sense of compassion,” her family said. “She truly embodied the Christian values she upheld. She lived her convictions of kindness and good will daily. She was an incomparable mother who loved her children and family above all else. Her spirit will live on in the hearts of her family and friends forever.”
A celebration of her life was held Tuesday, June 5, at the New Life Fellowship, 51 Old Gick Road, Saratoga Springs, N.Y.
Burial is private, and at the convenience of the family.
Arrangements were handled by William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 North Broadway, Saratoga Springs, NY.
