After 57 beautiful years of life here on earth, Leslie Evans Hume has passed on to Heaven. Her final moments were spent in her Tampa, Florida home with her entire family by her side.
She was the devoted wife of Richard Hume, loving Mother of Lindsey Hume Borst, Megan Hume O’Dea and Richard Hume Jr, proud Mother-in-law of Brendan Borst and James O’Dea, loyal little sister to Deborah McGlynn and Donald Evans, and future Guardian Angel Grandma of Hunter Evans Borst.
Leslie was equal parts loving and lovable. She had an infectious personality, her hugs cured all, and her smile and laughter were unmatched. She was a woman of many passions and talents: she bled blue and white in honor of her beloved Nittany Lions, was a kick-ass skier on the slopes and the lake, and loved sipping a good margarita (or two) amongst friends.
One of our favorite traits was her fiercely competitive spirit, probably because it was so unexpected coming out of such a sweet lady. Leslie never backed down from a challenge, and never, ever gave up — a trait that was evident until the very end. But above all else, Leslie will be remembered as the loving Mother and Wife that she was. She devoted her entire life to her husband and children; the love that she shared with her family was unlike any other. Every morning, she woke us up singing “Rise and Shine!” and we will continue to do just that until we are all together again. We love you, Mom.
A celebration of Leslie’s life will take place on Saturday, February 24 at St. William Catholic Church, 601 Seagate Drive, Naples FL at 11AM.
