Vice President Mike Pence pens letter in support of Tucker West

Ridgefielders Tucker West and Leigh Diffey found each other in Pyeongchang, South Korea Monday, Feb. 5. Diffey will call West’s race in the men’s luge competition Saturday on NBC. West has received support from Vice President Mike Pence.

Support for Tucker West has extended from Ridgefield’s historic Main Street to The Oval Office in Washington, D.C.
Vice President Mike Pence wrote a letter to First Selectman Rudy Marconi that acknowledged the Ridgefield native’s accomplishment as an Olympic luger and wished West the best of luck in his race Saturday, Feb. 10.
“As leader of the United States delegation to the 2018 Olympic Winter Games, I am proud to join the people of Ridgefield in honoring your community’s own Tucker West as a member of the U.S. Olympic Team in Pyeongchang, South Korea,” Vice President Pence said in a letter signed Feb. 2.
“Together, the members of our Olympic Team represent the strength of our nation and the destiny of American greatness at home and around the world. I join Americans everywhere in applauding these athletes and cheering them on as they reach for their dreams.
“On behalf of the American people, I want you to know how proud we are of your community for representing America on the world stage. Please know that I will be rooting for Tucker and rallying behind Team USA as they compete in the XXIII Olympic Winter Games in Pyeongchang.
“May God bless the people of Ridgefield, may God bless our 2018 Olympic Team, and may God bless the United States of America.”
