RHS boys volleyball team reaches FCIAC finals

The Ridgefield High boys volleyball team will get a chance to defend its conference championship.

The Tigers defeated the Fairfield co-op team, 3-1, on Wednesday night in the FCIAC semifinals at Fairfield Ludlowe. Ridgefield won the match by scores of 25-16, 20-25, 26-24 and 25-9.

Second-seed Ridgefield (18-1) will face top-seed Staples in the finals on Friday at 7 at Ludlowe.

Ridgefield’s only loss this season was a 3-0 setback to Staples (17-1) on May 13. The Wreckers swept fourth-seed Greenwich, 3-0, in the other semifinal contest Wednesday.

Setter Paul Cooke had 39 assists, six service points and five digs for the Tigers in the win over Fairfield.
Tyler Chittenden contributed 14 kills, while Griffin Jones had 10 kills and two blocks and David Linder added eight kills, five service points and two blocks.
Karl Liapunov finished with 28 digs and three service points.
Fairfield dropped to 15-4 with the loss, its second to Ridgefield this spring.
