Boys hoop: Ridgefield tops Westhill, 67-50

The Ridgefield High boys basketball team will enter the post-season on a five-game winning streak.

And coming off an impressive performance.

In a contest between two teams headed to the FCIAC playoffs, the Tigers ended the regular season with a 67-50 victory over Westhill on Wednesday night at RHS.

Ridgefield (16-4 overall, 14-4 FCIAC) and Westhill (15-5, 14-4 FCIAC) finished the regular season in a three-way tie along with Bridgeport Central for third place overall in the conference. But Westhill won the tiebreaker, with Central taking the fourth seed and Ridgefield the fifth seed.

That means the Tigers will meet Central in an FCIAC quarterfinal game Saturday at Fairfield Ludlowe.

Ridgefield outscored Westhill, 19-8, in the second quarter to open a 34-21 halftime lead. The Tigers then outscored Westhill by two points in each of the final quarters.

Jeff Racy hit six three-pointers and finished with 24 points to lead Ridgefield. Kurt Steidl added 19 points and Patrick Racy had 11 points.
