Ridgefield High written threat: ‘First shot at 10 … Get ready’

The written threat that sent Ridgefield High School students home early Thursday was a reference to a possible school shooting.

An image that was taken from inside the girls bathroom at the school shows a written message that appears to read, “FIRST SHOT AT 10 … GET READY RHS 5/30/19.”

Ridgefield students were dismissed at 9:30 a.m.

“Out of an abundance of caution, we are dismissing RHS at 9:30am,” the school district wrote on its website. “This dismissal (and the threat) does not affect SRMS. The investigation is ongoing.”

Ridgefield police released a statement at noon.

“To correct any rumors in regards to the ongoing investigation involving Ridgefield High School,” Capt. Shawn Platt wrote. “The RPD is actively investigating a written threat (no reference to bombs) that was written in a women’s restroom. Out of an abundance of caution the high school was dismissed early. We will update you once we have more information.”
