Ridgefield High teams will be in action this week as most state tournaments begin and one (boys tennis) continues. Below are schedules for the Tigers:
Baseball: Ridgefield is seeded 20th in the Class LL tournament and plays 13th-seed Trumbull in a first-round game Tuesday at 3:30 at Trumbull High School. The winner advances to face either fourth-seed South Windsor or 36th-seed Fairfield Prep in the second round on Wednesday at 3:30 at the home of the higher seed. Softball: Seeded 19th, Ridgefield hits the road to meet 14th-seed Greenwich in a Class LL first-round contest Tuesday at 4:30. The winner moves on to play third-seed West Haven (first-round bye) in the second round on Wednesday in West Haven. Click for complete Class LL bracket.
Boys lacrosse: Top-seed Ridgefield begins defense of its Class L state championship with a first-round game on Wednesday at 4:30 at Tiger Hollow. The winner takes on either eighth seed Staples or ninth-seed Fairfield Warde in the quarterfinals on Saturday (June 1) at 3 p.m. at the home of the higher seed. Girls lacrosse: Ridgefield is seeded ninth and plays eighth-seed Glastonbury in the first round of the Class L tournament on Tuesday at 5 p.m. at Glastonbury High School. The winner meets either top-seed Cheshire or 17th-seed Greenwich in the quarterfinals on Thursday at 5 p.m. at the home of the higher seed. The Tigers made the state finals for the first time last year, losing to New Canaan, 19-7, in the Class L title game. Click for complete Class L bracket.
Boys tennis: Ridgefield resumes play in the Class LL tournament on Tuesday at 4 p.m. at Amity High School. Heading into the singles and doubles quarterfinals, the Tigers are currently third in the team standings with 16 points, trailing Greenwich (20 points) and Staples (18 points). Although all of Ridgefield’s singles players have been eliminated, the Tigers’ 10th-seeded doubles team of Noah Butler and Tadd Long has advanced to the quarterfinals and plays Greenwich’s Jason Katz and Adam Greenlee on Tuesday. Boys and girls outdoor track and field: Both Ridgefield teams compete at the Class LL championships on Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Willow Brook Park in New Britain. Click for boys and girls performance lists.
Boys volleyball: After winning its three final regular-season matches to qualify for the Class L tournament, 11th-seed Ridgefield faces sixth-seed Danbury in a first-round contest Wednesday at 4:30 at Danbury High School. The winner goes on to play either third-seed Darien or 14th-seed Shelton in the quarterfinals on Friday at 6 p.m. at the home of the higher seed.
