The Ridgefield A Better Chance, Inc. (RABC) program is seeking applications from local residents for membership on its board of directors. Self-nominations are encouraged. Three-year terms begin on Sept. 1.
Ridgefield ABC is a local chapter of the National A Better Chance (ABC) program and has been in operation since 1985. We provide highly motivated, academically successful middle school students of color with the opportunity for an excellent high school education. Students come from families with limited income who live in areas without high performing high schools, which limits their access to a rigorous college-preparatory education. Since 1987, fifty-four RABC scholars have graduated from Ridgefield High School and have gone on to major universities and colleges.
RABC board is a “working board” of up to 30 members, with several committees to choose from. The board is responsible for the organization’s oversight, long-term strategic planning and policy setting. The organization is looking for Board Members who will be engaged and have the time and commitment to be effective stewards of Ridgefield ABC’s program, always operating in the best interest of students. Skills in demand include Accounting/Financial, Marketing, Communications and Development.
The application deadline is July 15. If interested, contact Jessica Brooks at firstname.lastname@example.org. Go to ridgefieldabc.org for information on the program
