To the Editor:
Once again, and in spite of lousy weather, Rid Litter Days were a big success. We distributed more trash bags and safety vests than ever before. Over 1,000 pounds of litter was picked up and left in trash bags at the five collection points. Even more went into private trash. As a result, our town now looks beautiful and the environment is safer for all of us.
Our thanks go to everyone who picked up litter, especially various Scout troops; to the Town of Ridgefield for their help with flyers, letters, passing out trash bags and vests, and picking up the filled bags; to Molly McGeehin for working on publicity; to the Chamber of Commerce for passing out trash bags and vests, and to Ridgefield Hardware for donating the trash bags.
This was a townwide effort. We all can take pride.
