To the Editor:
Hats off to the hardy souls who braved Saturday’s wind to walk the “Rebels and Loyalists 1777” Graveyard Tour. Graves of 27 fascinating Revolution era Ridgefielders were visited. Members of the Ridgefield Graveyard Restoration Committee, and a loyal spouse, culled the history books to tell the tales of the town’s participation in the area’s battles for freedom. Interesting tidbits and glimpses into the lives of these extraordinary citizens were brought into focus.
Tranquil Olde Town Cemetery was a beautiful sight with American flags adorning the graves of the many Revolutionary War veterans buried there. It was a fitting way to celebrate the 242nd anniversary of The Battle of Ridgefield. Thanks to all!
