Early dismissals Monday

Because of today’s weather, Ridgefield schools got out early today, and the Board of Education’s meetings were cancelled today.

They will start with RHS at 10:55, then ERMS, SRMS at 11:30; BES, RES, SES  at 12:05; BMES, FES, VPES at 12:40; St Mary at 10:55.

Bus pickups this morning are on normal schedule.

The Board of Education’s meeting scheduled for tonight has been cancelled with the budget-oriented agenda moved to Wednesday, Jan. 30.

The informal “lunch bunch” gathering, where people can chat with school board members, also scheduled for today, was rescheduled for Monday, Feb. 4.

Another sad day for personal responsibility, where a whole district of kids is taught to run and hide at the first sign of precipitation. When will our school leaders stop watching sensationalistic news and weather reports and start making decisions based on actual weather? Anyone out driving any road in Ridgefield can tell you that the roads remain safe, the predicted INCH of snow will not change that and any change later in the day will be to less frozen sleet or rain. We need to teach our children to be responsible, not scared.
