The Ridgefield High boys swim team completed an unbeaten regular season with a 93-63 victory over Danbury on Feb. 13 at Barlow Mountain Elementary School.
The Tigers were ahead 93-20 before swimming exhibition (no points) in the final four events.
Ridgefield (10-0) begins its quest for postseason titles on Thursday when it competes in the Fairfield County Interscholastic Athletic Conference championship meet at Greenwich High School. The Tigers finished third at last year’s FCIAC finals.
Against Danbury, Ridgefield won the first eight events — and finished second in seven of them — to open its 93-20 lead.
Placing first for the Tigers were Andrew Yu in the 200 freestyle (2:06.81), Terry Li in the 200 individual medley (2:26.00), Luke Hruska in the 50 freestyle (26.62), Ryan Contreras in the diving competition (123.70 points), Gavin Egerton in the 100 butterfly (1:02.00), Will Bryant in the 100 freestyle (59.12), and Owen Foley in the 500 freestyle (4:54.39).
Hruska, Linney O’Malley, Matthew Johnston, and Josh Burns combined to win the 200 medley relay in a time of 2:02.35.
Adding second-place individual finishes were Johnston in the 200 freestyle, Vidur Hareesh in the 200 IM, Luke Mignano in the 50 freestyle, Cole Blackwell in the diving competition, Carter Schroppe in the 100 freestyle, and Brennan Ward in the 500 freestyle.
Hareesh, Schroppe, Ward, and Bryant were second in the 200 medley relay.
Third-place finishes came from Presley Milton in the 200 freestyle, Foley in the 200 IM, and Johnston in the 100 butterfly.
