Ridgefield police seek new officer

The Ridgefield Police Department will be hiring for an entry-level police officer, after a series of promotions have left a vacant spot among the department’s patrol division.

In October, the Police Commission promoted Jeff Kreitz, the department’s public information and training officer, from captain to chief after the retirement and death of Chief John Roche. Lt. Shawn Platt was promoted to captain in January. He took over Kreitz’s position.

Candidates for the open position must be at least 21 years of age, and will be need to pass a written exam, physical test, separate interviews with the department and Police Commission, polygraph test, psychological and medical examinations, and a background investigation.

Those interested in applying can download the application at www.ridgefieldct.org/police-department, and send in the completed application with an attached certified check or money order for $100 made out to the Ridgefield Police Department. The application deadline is 9 a.m. March 22.
