The Main Street business has not been sold and plans to reopen in late February or early March, according to a statement posted on the restaurant’s Instagram account.
“The Village Tavern in downtown Ridgefield has not ben sold as recently stated to the press by Bruno DiFabio,” the statement read. “After becoming aware of certain unethical business practices, the original partners, Chef Germano Minin and resident Joe Chelednik have taken over the operation of Ramapoo Restaurant Corporation which owns and operates The Village Tavern and Romolo Gastro Pizza.”
The new ownership went into place Tuesday, Jan. 29.
“Minin and Chelednik are looking forward to re-launching and re-opening The Village Tavern the last week of February or first week of March,” the statement said.
Minin and Chelednik plan to post updates on social media “as they become available,” according to the Instagram post.
The post concluded with an apology to the businesses customers and Ridgefield residents “for any confusion caused by incorrect and misleading information that circulated last week.”
Editor’s note: This story broke too late for the Jan. 27 print edition of The Press. The print story this week states the business is was closed and was being sold. We apologize for the error.
