Ridgefield Academy students shine in WordMasters Challenge

Several students representing Ridgefield Academy recently received a perfect score in the first of three meets in this year’s WordMasters Challenge—a national vocabulary competition involving nearly 150,000 students annually.

Competing in the difficult Blue Division of the WordMasters Challenge, fourth grader Marilyn Sommerville and eight graders Julia Brennan and Annie Suter each earned a perfect score of 20 on the challenge. Nationally, only 31 fourth graders and 37 eighth graders achieved this result. Other students from Ridgefield Academy who achieved outstanding results in the meet include Freddie Crowhurst and Pierce Roc-Sennett from Grade 4; Kyle Abrahamsen, Isla Geaney, William Kolani, Aidan O’Callaghan, and Penelope Tong from Grade 5; Béibhinn Geaney, Grade 6; and Grade 8 students Meredith Joo and Henry Kolani.
