White picked in fourth round of MLL draft

University of Virginia senior Matt White, a 2009 Ridgefield High graduate, was chosen by the Charlotte Hounds in the fourth round of the recent Major League Lacrosse draft.

White, an attackman, was the 28th overall selection in the draft, which took place Jan. 11 in Philadelphia, Pa.

In his first three seasons at Virginia, White has 55 goals and 36 assists for 91 points in 52 games. He has started in 36 of those contests.

White had his most productive season last spring, tallying 19 goals and 14 assists for 33 points in 18 games.

In 2011, White helped the Cavaliers win the NCAA championship by scoring eight goals and adding three assists in the tournament, including three goals in the title game. He was named to the All-NCAA Tournament team.

At RHS, White was a two-time high school All-American and was ranked the number four recruit in the country by Inside Lacrosse during his senior season. He holds the school record for career points.
