Girls hoop: Scalzo leads Tigers over Greenwich

A big fourth quarter from Maggie Scalzo lifted the Ridgefield High girls basketball team to a 48-44 win over Greenwich on Friday night at RHS.

The Tigers raised their record to 6-2 with the victory.

Scalzo scored 10 of her team-high 15 points in the final eight minutes to lead the Tigers. She hit a three-pointer and grabbed two critical offensive rebounds on missed free throws.

Sandy Carpenter added seven points for Ridgefield, while Andrea Bedard had 10 rebounds and Rebecca Lawrence collected eight rebounds.

Jenny Cespedes scored a game-high 16 points for Greenwich, hitting all six of her free throws.

Ridgefield is back in action tomorrow afternoon against Trumbull in the championship game of the Masuk Holiday Tournament in Monroe. The game was postponed due to snow last Saturday.
