To the Editor:
If a senior citizen sells their home because of high property taxes, most likely a family with children will buy that home.
The town will now have to support those children with a public education that costs $18,000 per child, every year.
Common sense tells me that it’s much cheaper to give seniors a big property tax discount and let them age in their homes.
There needs to be some integrated planning between the Board of Selectmen and the Board of Education, to find the right balance of where Ridgefield’s tax dollars are spent.
Seniors deserve their fair share.
Property tax breaks for seniors actually save the town money!
