First-ever Hanukkah walk on Main Street draws big crowd

Police Chief Jeff Kreitz lights a candle during the Hanukah walk on Main Street on Dec. 7.

The first ever Hanukkah walk on Main Street took place last week. Children and adults made stops at all the participating Main Street shops, including Debra Ann’s, Squash’s, Neumann Real Estate, Toy Chest and KaFo, where they enjoyed special holiday-themed foods.

The walk continued to the menorah, where live music got everyone in the Hanukkah spirit.

Ridgefield Police Chief Jeff Kreitz lit the nine-foot menorah with everyone joining in the singing.

The Ridgefield Fire Department provided its biggest truck to the event.

The truck extended its ladder high in the air where Rabbi Sholom Deitsch and Chief Kreitz threw chocolate gelt in the air for all to enjoy.
