Ridgefield’s Main Street will have one less retail shop in 2019.
The Purple Frog, which first opened at 5 Bailey Avenue in 2013 and then moved to 414 Main Street in 2016, announced on its Facebook page this week that it would be closing down Dec. 31.
“It is time for new adventures,” said Emma Hardiman, Purple Frog owner, on the store’s Facebook page. “Thank you to our fabulous customers for supporting us over the past 5 years. Thank you for your loyalty, patience and advice that enabled us to grow on to Main Street — this really is a special town with great people!”
Hardiman said that everything in the store would be discounted at least 50% from its original price.
“All tables and shelving also need to find new homes,” she said. “Don’t forget to use your gift vouchers before we shut our doors for the final time.”
The store specializes in clothing, baby gifts, jewelry, and Ridgefield-themed items.
“Please remember your Ridgefield stores during a time when Amazon is breaking all online records,” Hardiman wrote. “If this trend continues our precious downtown is going to look very different in 5 years’ time.”
