A one-two finish from Gabriella Viggiano and Tess Pisanelli helped the Ridgefield High girls cross country team sweep its final regular-season meet Tuesday.
Running on their home course, the Tigers edged previously unbeaten Trumbull, 26-29, and also defeated Fairfield Ludlowe, 19-40, and New Canaan, 21-36.
Ridgefield (14-1) will now begin its quest for postseason titles at next Wednesday’s FCIAC championships at Waveny Park in New Canaan.
Viggiano was first overall in a time of 14 minutes, 58.90 seconds for the 2.5-mile race. Right behind her was Pisanelli, who finished second in 14:59.30.
Rory McGrath (ninth, 15:56.90) and Katherine Langis (10th, 16:00.00) added top-10 overall finishes for the Tigers, while Elizabeth Jasminski (14th, 16:10.30) also contributed to Ridgefield’s team score.
Elizabeth DeMassa (18th, 16:30.20) and Kasey McGerald (19th, 16:48.00) both placed in the top-20 overall for the Tigers.
The Ridgefield boys team also ended its regular season Tuesday, beating Ludlowe, 28-31, and New Canaan, 25-36, but losing to Trumbull, 27-30.
The Tigers’ top-two finishers were Ryan Crist (13:40.90) and Chaz DellaCorte (13:42.20), who were seventh and eighth overall, respectively.
Chip Coffin (11th, 15:55.80), Ethan McKenzie (13th, 13:59.30), and Ethan Snyder (14th, 13:59.80) also contributed to Ridgefield’s team score.
Charles King (15th, 14:00.80), Leo Rector (16th, 14:02.00), Charles Namiot (17th, 14:04.10), and Omkar Ratnaparkhi (18th, 14:05.10) added top-20 overall finishes for the Tigers.
