Police, firefighters to host Safety Day Sept. 23

Crash simulators, a K-9 team demonstration, and a chance for kids to get up close to Eagle One, the police helicopter — the town’s annual Safety Day is Sunday, Sept. 23.

The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the parking lot of East Ridge Middle School.

Those who attend will get a chance to see Ridgefield Police Officer Murray and Loki, his K-9 partner in action at 11 a.m. Eagle One will fly in for a demonstration in the ball field at 12:15 p.m.

The event will also feature a child car seat installation and safety check clinic, as well as the fire safety trailer.

Police and fire vehicles will also be on site throughout the event. There will be information tables set up for the town CERT (Community Emergency Response Team), Firearms Safety, the RVNA, Lyme Connection, Ridgefield Police Benevolent Association, Ridgefield Fire Department, CT SART (State Animal Response Team), as well as others.

Admission is free and the event is open to all ages.
