20 RHS students picked for regional music festival

Twenty students from Ridgefield High School have been selected to participate in the Connecticut Music Educators Association (CMEA) Western Region High School Music Festival to be held on Jan. 18 and 19, at Darien High School.

The selected students and their Western Region music ensembles are:

Hannah Kim, Kent Rapp, Will Schupmann and Terry Wu (concert band); Nicole Devine and Jack Truskowski (jazz ensemble); Noah Feinberg, Jacob Litt, Carly McLam and Allie Short (choir); and Stanley Cai, Grace Delinger, Noelle Farmer, Caroline Joyner, Emily Kerr, Ryan Konopka, Patrick Lerchi, Adam Rayfield, Sarah Searfoss and Michelle Ye (orchestra).

Each of these students in a member of one or more Ridgefield High School music ensembles under the direction of Joyce Flanagan or Michael McNamara including wind ensemble, jazz band, symphonic orchestra, and concert choir.

High school students from across Fairfield County participated in the CMEA Western Region music auditions on Saturday, Nov. 17 at New Fairfield High School.

Students with the highest audition scores were selected to participate in the January festival, which includes rehearsals and performances under the direction of renowned conductors.

Students selected for participation in the festival are eligible to audition for the CMEA All-State Music Festival to be held April 2 through 4 in Hartford.
